At Life Gaborone Private hospital, we take pride in providing you information that you need in order to make your stay with us a pleasant and hassle-free experience.

The following types of accommodation are available:

  • Executive Suite - own bathroom, mini fridge, visitors lounge, DSTV and telephone
  • Private ward - own bath room facilities, DSTV and telephone
  • General ward - three or four beds sharing bathroom facilities own TV.

Maternity unit:

  • Private rooms with en suite bathrooms & DSTV.
  • General rooms with shared bathroom facilities & own TV.

Paediatric ward:

  • Eight bed ward with TV.


Our admission process can be made much easier for you, if the following simple guidelines are followed.

  • Medical aid patients should check with their medical aid / scheme prior to admission to obtain pre-authorisation, if deemed necessary by the medical aid / scheme.
  • Patients have to present their medical aid card and identity document on admission. Persons under the age of 18 have to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Mothers or fathers whose children are admitted as patients in private rooms are able to stay in the hospital free of charge.
  • Mothers or fathers of children registered in the four bedroom wards who wish to stay with their children overnight are welcome to sleep in the ward. Only a recliner chair is provided in the paediatric rooms for one parent
  • To speed up admission, a pre-admission form is available from the resident doctor`s rooms and the hospital`s reception, and should be either handed through to the hospital`s reception or faxed through to us prior to hospitalisation. Please click here to find our contact details.

Prior to leaving the hospital please ensure that your invoices are all signed, if a medical aid patient, or paid in full if you are a private patient.

Please note that after being discharged you may receive several other invoices, related to ancillary services (pathology or radiology), as well as from your doctor. This is due to the fact that they work on different systems to the hospital, and the doctors are in private practice and therefore their fees are separate from the hospital fees.

Please, do not forget to collect your medication and x-rays.

Day patients undergoing surgery under anaesthetic should arrange for transport from hospital - it is illegal to drive for 24 hours following the administration of an anaesthetic.

Service monitoring

In keeping with our goal to continue providing high quality care; we monitor our service to patients on an ongoing basis. On discharge patients are asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their stay at the hospital. Participation is voluntary, but this will assist the hospital management to address any problems and improve our service to you.

Visitor Information

We welcome all of our patients’ visitors, as we know what a difference the support of close family and friends can make. We welcome the input of visitors on the requirements that patients may have and we have thus provided for visitors to visit our hospitals only at certain designated times and these are:

General wards:

  • 11:00 to 12:00, 15:00 to 16:00 and 19:00 to 20:00
  • Maximum of two visitors per patient at a time is recommended for the infection control purposes
  • No children under the age of 12 years are permitted

Labour and delivery unit:

  • Fathers or one specified adult is permitted with the mother.
  • Maximum of one visitor per patient at a time.
  • No children under the age of 12 years are permitted

Paediatric unit:

  • 11:00 to 12:00, 15:00 to 16:00 and 19:00 to 20:00
  • A Maximum of 2 visitors per patient at a time.

General ICU and high care ward:

  • Visits will be closely supervised by staff
  • Maximum of two visitors per patient at a time
  • No children under the age of 12 years are permitted

Neonatal ICU:

  • Only mothers and fathers are permitted
