Our facilities
At Life Hilton Private Hospital, we focus on the delivery of high quality treatment and standards of care - whether for routine or more serious procedures. Our facilities include:
- The hospital has 94 beds
- Five operating theatres of which two are state-of-the art laminar flow theatres which are equipped to deal with intricate orthopaedic surgery which include knee and hip replacements
- Nine bed maternity and gynaecology unit
- Five bed neonatal intensive care unit
- Ten bed paediatric unit with six private wards and a secure play area. Our paediatric wards offer excellent facilities for mothers of hospitalised children
- Six bed intensive care unit
- Six bed high care unit
- Radiology unit which includes a CT scanner, MRI scanner and X-rays
- 24 hour emergency unit equipped to deal with major and minor medical emergencies
- Eight station renal dialysis unit

At Life Hilton Private Hospital, we take pride in providing you with information that you need in order to make your stay with us a pleasant experience. If there is any further information that you or your family require regarding our hospital and our services, please feel free to contact us .
Accommodation
The hospital provides accommodation for patients as follows:
- Day beds
- Private wards
- General wards
- High care units
- ICU
- Neonatal ICU
- Maternity wards
- Paediatric wards
We also offer TVs in all of our wards. Earphones can be purchased at reception.
Private wards are all en-suite.
Admission procedure
The following items are required for admission:
- Medical aid membership card
- ID book
- Pre-authorisation number, if required by the medical aid
- X-rays, if applicable
A parent or legal guardian must accompany all patients under 18 years Parents of paediatric patients are welcome to stay at their bedside as required
Discharge
Day patients who receive anaesthesia should arrange for transport from hospital following surgery as it is illegal to drive for 24 hours after an anaesthetic has been administered. All private patients (i.e. patients not covered by medical aid) are required to settle their account in full on discharge.

Pre-admission Clinic
The aim of the pre-admission clinic is to streamline the admission process and provide an efficient service for patients and their families. It also provides an opportunity for the nursing sister to identify issues both from a health, administrative and logistical point of view, in order to prevent a delay in your admission. It is essential for patients to bring their ID document and medical aid card with them on admission to hospital. Maternity patients are required to copies of both parents’ ID documents. The pre-admissions clinic is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 08h00 to 16h00. Service monitoring
In line with our goal to provide high quality care, we constantly monitor our service rendered to patients. On discharge, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding your hospital stay. We value your feedback, suggestions and compliments as we continually strive to improve our patient care. Tarrifs
Life Hilton Private Hospital charges medical aid tariffs, i.e. contracted in fees. Patients requesting a private room will be required to pay a surcharge. A deposit will be required from private patients on admission. Please contact our accounts department for more information.
Visiting hours
General wards:
- 14h00 to 15h00 and 19h00 to 20h00
- Maximum of two visitors per patient at a time
Maternity unit:
- Fathers: 08h00 to 20h00
- Grandparents and siblings: 15h00 to 16h00
- Maximum of two visitors per patient at a time
Paediatric ward:
- Parents: any time up to 20h00
- Grandparents and siblings: 15h00 to 16h00
- Maximum of two visitors per patient at a time
ICU and high care ward:
- 13h00 to 13h30; 15h00 to 15h30; and 19h30 to 20h00
- Only family members are allowed to visit with a maximum of two visitors per patient at a time
- No children are allowed
Neonatal ICU:
- 13h15 to 13h30; 15h15 to 15h30; and 19h15 to 19h30
- Parents may visit at any time
